If you listen to the narratives and themes of Irish folk music you’ll hear that most of it revolves around the heartache and struggles—and the causes—of oppression, displacement, and immigration. While the sound of the music and particular turn of phrase of the lyrics may be uniquely Irish, the circumstances are, unfortunately, increasingly universal.
The world is now facing unprecedented refugee migration challenges. Irish Americans owe it to the newly-arriving generations to respond like we are receiving our own ancestors.
These are the songs and stories of Irish immigrants and refugees.
Ways To Help
The best-case scenario for us would be if you heard about our music or this project and were inspired to give directly to UNHCR. Of course, we would love it if you listen to and enjoyed our music through whatever streaming service you already use too.
If you are the kind of person who likes to own their music, you can buy a copy by download or CD and we will give 100% of that sale to UNHCR.
This isn't your kind of music, this isn't a cause that speaks to you, no problem, please pick something that does speak to you and your life in some way and give something, time, or even a tiny amount of money.
If you wish to give directly to the UNHCR, or learn more about the programs they offer please visit: (https://www.unhcr.org/)
To be completely clear, we do not officially represent, nor do we speak for UNHCR. We are just another advocating voice trying to raise money for their cause in a musical way.
